Core Mao Micro Primary Edge Constant Power Constant Current Fast Charge Design Guide

Author:

In the early days, some mobile machines had a DC-DC buck core or linear constant current core inside, which could convert the voltage input to the terminal into 3.2~4.2V acceptable to the battery, and the charging current was controlled by the core inside the machine. The charging power is determined by the voltage and current of the charging terminal, P = V * I.

The principle of fast charging, origin:

In the early days, some mobile machines had a DC-DC buck core or linear constant current core inside, which could convert the voltage input to the terminal into 3.2~4.2V acceptable to the battery, and the charging current was controlled by the core inside the machine. The charging power is determined by the voltage and current of the charging terminal, P = V * I.

However, the maximum current that USB cables and USB sockets can withstand is limited. For example, the maximum current for micro USB is only 2A, and the maximum current for type C USB is 3A (some are 5A but need to have an Emark core inside).

If the battery is charged according to 5V, the maximum power for charging the battery is only 5V * 2A = 10W, or 5V * 3A = 15W, which can not quickly charge the battery of the mobile phone.
